Can't adopt, but want to help? You can be a "Cyber-Foster" for one of our "special" rescue dogs for as little as $20 a month. Make a one-time donation or send a monthly stipend to help support one of our rescue dogs, and you become a "buddy" (multiple buddies are okay, too). Your name will be posted next to your buddy's picture on this page. Donations can be mailed to IL-MO Rescue, NFP, 2 Garnette Dr., Belleville, IL 62220-3332. You can also make donations using a credit card or direct bank transfer via Paypal (see graphic link below). Buddy funds are used for veterinary care, food, treats and toys (in that order). Dogs posted on the "Be A Buddy" page have extensive medical/social needs and are considered long-term rehabilitation candidates.

Jamie's Peggy..."I Need A Buddy!" Peggy is a precious little breeder pug whose freedom was purchased by a rescue angel. Peggy was born with a severely deformed right foreleg, a congenital defect that did not keep her owners from breeding her. Peggy arrived with her blind brother, Foster, and three other pugs, all of whom have made themselves quite at home in rescue. Warm baths and good food are just the beginning. We hope to take Peggy to an orthopedic specialist in St. Louis for evaluation and possibly corrective surgery. Peggy could use a few buddies, but even one would be wonderful! To become Peggy's buddy, please contact the Buddy Program.

Bosco..."I've Got A Buddy!" Bosco is being cyberfostered by Donna Mirabella and her dear friend, Fran Kanowsky. We cannot tell you how grateful we are that someone has come forward to help Bosco take these first steps toward a better life!
Bosco is a 4y/o male pug who was being given away on the parking lot of a south St. Louis Walmart. A kind woman took him, and quickly realized rescue was the best place for him. Bosco's right eye is shriveled up like a raisin due to an injury. The woman who gave him up said someone stabbed him in the eye. We rather doubted this until we looked closely and saw a vertical notch in his lower eyelid...now, we wonder. At any rate, Bosco needs the eye removed, along with all the routine stuff. He has little vision in his good eye, which means he'll be a very tough placement even if we get the funds to take care of him. Bosco is very loving. We'd like to see him have a great forever home someday. His bad eye does not hurt, but it looks really horrible and our vet recommended removal. Bosco needs several buddies to make his dream of a proper home and family come true. |

Tinkerbelle..."I've Got A Buddy!" Tinkerbelle is being cyberfostered by Bella, another vision-impaired puggie and an IMR alumni, and her mom, Heidi Penrod. Thanks to my two dear friends for helping marvelous little Tink!
What a darling little pug is our sweet Tinkerbelle! Tink was dumped at a vet's office to be euthanized by an owner who said she "sheds too much". Tink was extra-terrified because she is totally blind and had no idea what was happening to her. We can see from Tink's physique that she produced many litters of pups for some uncaring human before being discarded. Fortunately, the vet cared more about Tink than her owner and contacted rescue for her. Tinkerbelle smelled like a barn when we got her and, indeed, was shedding by the handful. But after a bath and a good brushing, TInkerbelle has a nice smooth, normal pug coat. Tink is doing so much better - she is learning to navigate her new foster home and follow the other pugs to get around. In just a few days she is already climbing onto foster mom's bed by herself! Tink is benefiting from twice daily Tacrolimus drops in her eyes and, although she cannot see, her eyes don't hurt anymore. Tinkerbelle will be a longterm foster, costly to vet with added costs for monthly medication. Perhaps there is a sponsor out there who'd like to Buddy up with this precious darling to help her through this ordeal? |

Bess..."I've Got A Buddy!" Bess is being cyberfostered by Kim, Cinnamon & Morgan Sommer!
Bess is a sad case. She is supposedly 6y/o, but appears older, possibly because she is so grey. Bess spent all of her life in a puppymill until just a few months ago. She has whelped who-knows-how-many litters and made someone a lot of money. In December of 2006, she was rescued and placed by an area all-breed group. The lady who adopted Bess really tried to understand her, but was not prepared for the behaviors of puppymill survivors. "She doesn't want anything to do with me," said the lady. Who can blame her? All she has known of humans is pain and neglect. When the owner wanted to return Bess, the original rescue kindly granted us permission to take Bess home with us for rehabilitation. We are so happy to have her! The puppymill pugs are our heart...we love them the most and are set up specifically FOR them. All of Bess's injuries are on the inside. Healing will take a long, long time and will never be 100%, but she is in the right place now. A buddy will us offset the costs of Bess and all the other mill pugs who come here.
