Using Belly Bands To Help Curtail Male Marking

IL-MO Rescue, NFP specializes in puppymill survivors. Since the males come into rescue intact, they invariably want to "mark their territory". We've been using male diapers, commonly called "belly bands", to deal with male marking for a long, long time. When I mention them, people often ask me what they are and where to get them, so I decided to do a permanent response to those inquiries.

The belly band is a sewn strip of material that wraps around the body of a male dog. They attach over the dog's back with velcro strips. A pad, such as a feminine napkin, can be used between the belly band and the dog's penis to decrease the need for frequent washing.

When a dog wearing a belly band "marks", he marks himself. Since this is unpleasant for the dog and defeats the purpose of marking, belly bands often work where other methods have failed.

To purchase belly bands for your problem marker, we recommend you contact Linda Gerdes of Chicago. Linda makes the best, longest-lasting belly bands we've ever used. The quality is excellent and the prices are good, too.

Good luck with your problem furkid!
