Dog Links

No Puppy Mills: This site provides essential knowledge regarding how puppy mills operate, who they sell to, tricks of the trade, when and where auctions are held and what they are actually like, what breeds are sold and what prices they sell for. This is an ugly business run by ignorant people. Included are tips on how to rescue from auctions, for those among you with the stomach to witness one of these events.

The Senior Canine Rescue Society: Jude Fine has been a mentor to many of us in rescue. We highly recommend adopting at least one senior dog in a lifetime. The rewards are endless.

The Senior Dogs Project: Another excellent site for old dogs and people who love them. If you use Rimadyl for your senior pet, you need to read all the info on this site.

JustUs4All: A rescue watchdog, sorely needed in the rescue community. Check here, bothe before and after adopting a rescue/shelter animal.

Disabled Pet Network: How big is your heart? Disabled dogs make some of the most wonderful pets in the world. I should know - four of our five dogs are "special needs".

Petfinder: A terrific site listing shelters, pets wanted, pets needing relocation and lots more. They have a great search engine where you enter the kind of dog you want and it tells you what shelter has it.

The Animal Cruelty ActionLine: A service of the Animal Legal Defense Fund, this is a hotline for reporting animal cruelty.

Pawprints and Purrs: Good information on animal cruelty incidents, who to contact to encourage prosecution of offenders, and the link between animal cruelty and sociopathy.

Critter Haven's Puppy Mill Info Page: One of the best on the web. Be sure to check them out for the scoop on exactly who the scumbag millers are, where they are and how to stop them.

Missouri Homeless Animal Rescue Team: People who rescue, mostly from auctions. Don't buy a dog, adopt one of these beautiful animals, or contribute to the cause.

Pugworld Pals Webring: All doglovers have a soft spot for at least one special breed, be they Labs or Poodles, Mutts or St. Bernards. Mine are Pugs. If you have or know of a homeless Pug, or need to surrender one, please contact me. On the other hand, I am happy to refer folks wanting a Pug to a Pug Rescue organization in their area.

Maine Coonhound Rescue: These are wonderful dogs, too easily disposed of. Most are gun-shy, but that doesn't stop them from making great family pets. And that musical howl! Nobody howls like a coondog!

Don't forget to check out the links to Hearts United for Animals and St. Louis Stray Rescue posted on my main page.

Herp Links

St. Louis Herpetological Society: An excellent source of information and assistance to anyone interested in cold-blooded critters.

Fluker Farms: A dealer of feeder insects, these folks host a live Q & A session with herpetologist Dr. Mark Mitchell every Wednesday night from 5:00 pm 'til 6:00 pm every Wednesday (central time) in the Planet Reptile Room. Worth checking out!

Ronald's Roaches: Madagascan Hissers, excellent for feeding herps, easy to raise, and Ron offers excellent service, complete instructions, and fair prices. What more could you ask for?

Sticky Tongue Farms: The true chameleon experts; a very informative site. These are my all-time favorite herps!

Glades Herp: Wide variety, good service, but shop around for better prices.

Herp Links: Too many fascinating sites to list. Some are duplicated on this page, but the focus is on the word "HOT" (as in venomous). Classified ads; good articles.

Melissa Kaplan's Hardcore Herp Homepage: Captive care, species info, herp illnesses - you name it, it's here. Melissa is a virtual goldmine of great information. NOTE: This site may be of special interest to mystified parents whose kids "really want a snake"!

Gecko Ranch: Click if you love geckos.....I do!

Reptilian Home Page: This is the web site of the British Magazine. Discovering the differences between European herpetoculture and the way we do it in The States is fascinating. Even more interesting are the similarities!

J & B's Reptiles: These guys are St. Louis-based associates of mine. They have a good selection of colubrids and, best of all, are currently working with albino boa constrictors! Best of luck, dudes!
